The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra

Education

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra is committed to providing not only the finest in symphonic musical performance, but also to community outreach. In a continuing and ever expanding offering of educational programs, the NSO is an area leader in this field. From the extremely popular 'Not Just For Kids' series, and 'Instrument Petting Zoos', to chamber performances by NSO musicians and guest artists, young people throughout Fairfield County and beyond are exposed to music and music-making in an up close and personal way. Maestro Wittry also provides a very special 'Podium Perspective' in an informative talk before every concert.

(Not) Just for Kids,
Percussion!

The Norwalk Symphony is pleased to offer the third program in their education and outreach series, (Not) Just for Kids, at the New Canaan Public Library on Saturday, March 15 at 4:00 PM. This program provides music enrichment to concertgoers of all ages, and is being presented in partnership with area public libraries. The program receives partial sponsorship from The Estate of Ruth Krauss and the Xerox Foundation. All (Not) Just for Kids programs are free and open to the public. (Not) Just for Kids involves hands-on participation, making music fun for the whole family. On March 15, Dede Fitch and Mike Kollmer, members of the NSO percussion section, will present a lively and interactive program which will have the kids up and marching, clapping and drumming. For the last fifteen to twenty minutes they will be on hand to answer questions about music, instruments, and playing in the orchestra. Children will also have a special opportunity to try instruments themselves. The suggested age range for children attending is 3-10 years old.

Parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the Norwalk Symphony’s upcoming concerts and to get family discounted tickets.Library partners for the (Not) Just for Kids series are the South Norwalk, Wilton, and New Canaan libraries. This special event on March 15 will be graciously hosted by the New Canaan Public Library, located 151 Main Street New Canaan at 4:00 PM . Call the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra at 203-847-8844 for more information.
