Mahler’s friend and fellow composer Arnold Schoenberg made the painting of Mahler’s burial. Alma Mahler was ill and did not attend, but many people in the arts did. Noted Viennese Succession artists, Alfred Roller and Gustav Klimt were there, as were tenor Leo Slezak and conductor Bruno Walter. Alma died 53 years later in New York. She’s buried close by.
