Introduce your kids to the joy of classical music
Come learn at our educational program (Not) Just For Kids
The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Not) Just For Kids program is a lively, fun and interactive program designed to be educational as well as entertaining...and it's free! Download our brochure for locations and dates of our six programs for 2024-2025. Members of the orchestra demonstrate their instruments, play for the children, and answer questions in the hour long presentations. Throughout the season, presentations are made for all instrument families: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Some programs will incorporate a chance to hold and try to play a beginning level instrument in the “Petting Zoo.”
Celebrate the Brass Family of Instruments
Join us as we explore the Brass Family: trumpet, trombone, horn and tuba! Created for our (Not) Just for Kids program partners and the Norwalk Public Schools, these videos celebrate Black History Month and brass music.
You may use this Brass Family Lesson Outline to enhance this unit with stories and visual art projects. Additional instructions for DIY Didgeridoo are here.
As a special feature, each video has the option of 'closed captions' in Spanish or English. Just follow the instructions in the YouTube descriptions to activate this feature.
